Three colleagues share how they get empowered at work

Gordana from Slovenia, Vladislav from Bulgaria and Aleksander from Denmark explain what empowerment is to them. 

Empowerment is an integrated part of our JYSK values, and empowerment has been a special focus area in JYSK during the past year. 

Gordana Bodiroža works as Retail Store Supporter in JYSK Slovenia and finds inspiration and empowerment in her surroundings. 

“At JYSK, every opinion is important, and I am able to turn to everyone around me if I have any challenges. I get inspired by my colleagues and believe that great collegiality and a strong feedback culture are features of JYSK, which make it an empowering workplace. I am happy to be part of JYSK, where I can develop new skills, meet new colleagues, and do what I love,” says Gordana.

Freedom and creativity 

Vladislav Milushev works a Logistics Planning and Support Manager at JYSK’s distribution centre in Bozhurishte, Bulgaria. 

“To me, empowerment means having freedom and room for creativity. Empowerment is not just about having authority, but also about having the confidence and ability to influence outcomes and make meaningful contributions. It is about personal growth and realising my potential with the support and autonomy given to me,” he says and remembers a time when he felt especially empowered: 

“Once when I was working as a Logistics Controller, my manager trusted me to lead the SAP EWM processes for Distribution Centre Bozhurishte (DCB) updates in the Türkiye project. This responsibility made me feel empowered because my manager believed in my abilities.”

The right person 

Aleksander Bligaard, Regional Head of Sales JYSK Denmark and Poland, has especially experienced empowerment when he was given new responsibilities. 

“I feel empowered when I get a task, action, project or similar and get the feeling that I got this task, because I am the right person to find a solution to this. One year ago, I was offered the opportunity to be in charge of Denmark, which is one of our biggest countries measured on turnover, in the Sales & Expansion department. To be shown this trust from my manager made me feel trusted and proud,” he says.
