On 21 June, Jacob Brunsborg took over the position as Chairman of Lars Larsen Group. He looks forward to continue to run JYSK and the rest of Lars Larsen Group as strong family owned companies.

JYSK has always been a big part of Jacob Brunsborg's life. As the son of Lars Larsen, he grew up with the company, and it means a lot to him.

Jacob Brunsborg was made Chairman of  Lars Larsen Group on  21 June 2019.

“JYSK almost means the same to me, as it did to my father. I have grown up with JYSK, and we have always talked a lot about JYSK when the family was gathered. At the same time JYSK is the foundation for Lars Larsen Group, and it is the success of JYSK, which has made it possible to invest in other companies,” says Jacob Brunsborg.

He looks forward to being the main representative of the family in the future.

“It is on a very sad background and way too soon that I have now become Chairman of Lars Larsen Group. However it has been planned for a long time, and it is really important to me that our strong values live on in JYSK, and it will continue to be clear for everyone that JYSK is a family owned company,” says Jacob Brunsborg.

Confident in management

As a result of that, Jacob Brunsborg is not planning any major changes as a result of taking over his father’s former office and the position as Chairman of Lars Larsen Group.

“Not much will change in regards to how JYSK and the remaining parts of Lars Larsen Group have been run for the last five years. In that period I have been part of all major decisions together with my father, and therefore I have also been a part of all the strategic decisions, which have been carried out,” explains Jacob Brunsborg.

He also expresses his confidence toward the management of the companies owned by Lars Larsen Group.

“My father was not Chairman in the traditional sense, and the same goes for my role. It is important for me to listen to the management of the different companies and draw advantage from their expertise and knowledge. That is how we have always done it, and this is the way it will be moving forward. The hardest thing for me will be that I will miss my father as sparring partner, when big decisions need to be taken,” says Jacob Brunsborg.

The right decision

Jacob Brunsborg worked as Purchasing Director in JYSK until 2007. Since then he has concentrated his efforts on working in the board of companies owned by Lars Larsen Group. A decision he is very happy about today.

“I am really happy that I stepped out of daily operations in JYSK 12 years ago. It has given me the opportunity to look at JYSK and the other companies in Lars Larsen Group in another way. That is a big advantage when stepping into my new role. I am also sure it will mean that I can contribute more as Chairman,” says Jacob Brunsborg.

“My father was not Chairman in the traditional sense, and the same goes for my role. It is important for me to listen to the management of the different companies and draw advantage from their expertise and knowledge."

He underlines that the focus will continue to be on expansion and further development.

“I can guarantee that the family will keep investing in the company, and it will continue to be a smooth and short process when big decisions need to be taken, as we do not need to ask shareholders or other stakeholders for permission. I look forward to many years as Chairman of Lars Larsen Group, and to the cooperation with the many skilled employees in JYSK as well as in other Lars Larsen Group companies,” says Jacob Brunsborg.
