JYSK employees can now complete E-learning from everywhere, at any time and on any device.
In JYSK all new colleagues are being professionally introduced to the company. Part of this is training in the work processes in the JYSK stores, product knowledge and knowledge about how to give first class customer service.
This includes e-learning courses which all store employees have to pass within their first three months. Until now it was only possible to complete the training sessions on a computer, but now the HR department has introduced a new system with great possibilities.
“From our employer satisfaction surveys, we can see that our employees are very satisfied with our training programs. But they have also requested mobile solutions, and this is a wish we have taken very seriously. Our mobile setup makes it much more flexible when and where to do the training, so the employees do not depend on the store computer to be available and that makes it much easier to plan and complete the training,” says Ivana Dragić Topić, Training Manager at JYSK.
The mobile setup is currently implemented for JYSK colleagues in Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Poland and Ukraine. In the autumn it will be rolled out to the remaining 13 the countries in JYSK Nordic.
First movers
According to Ivana Dragić Topić, JYSK is one of the first companies in Europe to make M-learning available to their employees in a system that is responsive and able to adapt to any PC, tablet or mobile device.
This makes it easy for employees to do the training whenever it fits into their day.
“The keyword is flexibility and the ability to do the trainings wherever you want. The trainings are part of the working day, and employees will of course be paid for the time they spend on M-learning no matter if it takes place in the store, at home, when commuting or somewhere completely different,” says Ivana.
Learning through playing
Making the learning system available on smartphones was the first big step in the project. The second part of the project is to make the sessions shorter and more fun to do.
“In the future we will rethink the existing content in the training sessions. We will make it more interactive and intuitive with gaming elements and interesting quizzes. So all new employees will learn by playing,” says Ivana Dragić Topić.
This will make the training more attractive especially the many young people working in the JYSK stores, and so far the feedback from the users has been very positive.
