Turkish pioneers train in Bosnia and Denmark
On 4 May 2023, JYSK will open its first stores in Türkiye. The first Turkish store colleagues started training several months ago to be fully prepared for the best start in JYSK’s new market.
When the first customers enter the two new JYSK stores that will open in Türkiye on 4 May 2023, they will be met with local and experienced JYSK staff. The Turkish colleagues already started training in leadership, values and JYSK sales & service in the beginning of January 2023.
The two first Store Managers, Muzafer Genc and Metin Hilaloglu, along with District Manager Huseyin Yasa have during this period visited Bosnia two times and Denmark for training in stores.
In Bosnia, the colleagues have received training in MYJYSK, JYSK concept and store operations just to mention a few topics, while also helping out at a store reopening. In Denmark, the focus was on the new point of sale and StoreFront.
“Everyone in JYSK has been so kind and open, so even though I have only been in the company for a few months, I feel like it is almost two years. I really like that no matter your position, you have the right and duty to speak up, and if you have a great idea, you will be listened to,” says Huseyin, who comes from a District Manager position at Victoria’s Secret in Türkiye.
Experience from retail
Metin Hilaloglu also comes with previous experience from international retailers in the country, and he learned about the JYSK opening online and quickly found a match with the values on the career page.
“I heard that at JYSK you never end training, and I like that, because I always want to improve. When I first visited a JYSK store, I was impressed that everything was so simple,” he says.
Muzafer Genc spent 15 years at retail companies, but could not pass up the chance of being the first Store Manager for JYSK in Türkiye.
“I think the months of training have been very interesting, and that we are hired 4-5 months before the opening to start training really shows professionalism to me. JYSK also continuously highlights how important it is that we hire staff well in advance to have enough time to train them,” he says.
Waiting for the opening day
While completing training in the new point of sale, systems, values and so on, they all eagerly await the opening day.
“I am sure that customers in Türkiye will love us. They already know and like Scandinavian design from other companies and “do it yourself”. But the gamechanger for me is the approach to customers in JYSK, hospitality is really important to Turkish customers. I am sure we will have success,” says Huseyin.
