”A feeling of being able to reach anything”

Yannick Eelen is Store Manager in Schoten – one of the two first stores JYSK is opening in Belgium on April 5th.

The first time Yannick heard about JYSK was in an article about retail. On that same night, he had sent his resume, and the following day he visited one of the stores in the Netherlands.

“JYSK sounded like an interesting company. I want to be part of the success and help build it from the bottom up and make JYSK famous in Belgium,” says Yannick.

JYSK raises the bar

His JYSK career began in November 2016 with training in the Netherlands – first in Tilburg and later Breda. The training offered Yannick new knowledge about JYSK.

“From my previous jobs in the business, I have learned that retail is all about focusing on the details – retail is detail. After my training in the Netherlands, I must say that JYSK takes the meaning of this to a whole new level. Every detail is in place, and everything is written down. That of course makes more time for the customer,” says Yannick.

JYSK has a different approach to the customer than what Yannick has previously experienced in his job as Store Manager in another retail chain.

“At JYSK, it is not only about helping customers with a specific request, but also about making them feel comfortable. JYSK takes customer service to a higher level,” says Yannick.

The accommodating approach to customers and JYSK’s Scandinavian roots will work well on the Belgium market, according to Yannick.

A special feeling

Up until April 5th, Yannick and his team are working on getting the store in Schoten ready.

“It is a special feeling seeing everything taking shape from the beginning – being involved in everything. It is a feeling of being able to reach anything,” says Yannick.
