Dear colleagues,

A lot has happened since 28 March, when it was announced that JYSK Nordic and Dänisches Bettenlager will become one business unit.

Since then, departments in Brabrand and Handewitt have started to work closer together, and I have become even more convinced that by combining the best from JYSK Nordic and Dänisches Bettenlager, we can reach even more ambitious goals.

As an example, the new common purchasing department has already started to look into the assortment to see, where stores and countries can benefit from getting new products, which are already in assortment in other countries or regions.

I believe that this will make it possible to offer an even more relevant assortment in all countries, thereby increasing sales.

Simultaneously work is going on within a number of other departments, such as HR, IT, Marketing and Sales to ensure that it will in fact become the best from two worlds regarding tools, concepts, developing people and much more.

Great achievement

Jan Bøgh
Jan Bøgh, CEO & President of JYSK Nordic.

I am of course also aware that the decision to merge means that we have made changes in some departments.

These changes have mainly affected employees in Brabrand and Handewitt, and although I am sure that the merger will benefit all of us, it has been important to me that the work done so far has not affected the work that goes on every day in stores, distribution centres and country head offices.

Focus should still be on providing the best possible customer service every day, and although June was a tough month in many countries, we saw significant increase in turnover in some countries including Germany, which ended up with index 109 in June.

This is once again proof that we are part of a strong company with many possibilities to develop and expand even further.

Strong values

We are also a family owned company with strong values, which are important to hold on to.

Most of you are probably aware that the founder of JYSK and Dänisches Bettenlager, Lars Larsen, has chosen to resign as Chairman of the Board, after being diagnosed with cancer.

Despite this very sad situation, I am very happy that Lars Larsen’s son, Jacob Brunsborg, has taken up the position as Chairman of the Board, and will serve as a guarantee that JYSK will continue as a family owned company.

This is very important, as it ensures that we can continue to invest in the company and reach the goal of becoming the world’s most widespread and profitable chain of stores.

Best regards,

Jan Bøgh
CEO & President
