Employees in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are very pleased with JYSK as an employer. This was confirmed when the company won the award “Best Employer 2018” in a big survey performed by the HR agency AON.

27 February was a great day for JYSK in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. At an award show in Prague Country Manager, Peter Brányik, and HR Manager, Jan Bek, could enter the stage to receive the price as Best Employer 2018 in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The title “Best Employer” is allotted to the company with the best result in a survey based on evaluation from employees. The company with the highest satisfaction score among employees gets to go home with the prize. The HR agency AON has performed the survey since 2004.

"It is a stamp of quality for the company. That fact that it is the employees who rated us shows me, that the things we are doing and our culture are appreciated."

It is the second time JYSK in the Czech Republic and Slovakia is participating in the survey, but the first time JYSK won the prize.

“We participated for the first time two years ago. I thought it was time to participate again this year, as we have improved a lot during these two years and done a big effort for our employees. For example, we have found a way to communicate better and more clearly with our employees. So we are really proud and happy to receive this award,” says Jan Bek.

Education and development is important

The results of the survey shows, that JYSK had the highest score on support of education and development of its employees. According to Filip Kroupa, who is District Manager Trainee at JYSK in Prague, JYSK´s employee promises and career opportunities are important factors in that regard.

awards“I actually ended my career in JYSK and then came back a few years ago, because of the opportunities to develop in JYSK. My experience is that in JYSK you do not have to know everything to take a step up in your career. JYSK will teach you, what you need to know. But you have to want to do it and show dedication,” says Filip Kroupa, who also mentions how the sharing of best practice and communication in JYSK in the Czech Republic are important to the employees.

To the HR Manager in JYSK Jan Bek, the recognition from the employees means a lot.

“I am very happy that our employees acknowledges our efforts in this area. In JYSK we are working seriously with our employee promises. It is not just fancy words on a strategy board. They are very much alive among our employees in the stores and they are turned into concrete actions, as we are doing a lot of training of our employees and a lot of leadership training,” explains Jan Bek.

He hopes that the award can help JYSK in the two countries to attract more candidates in the future.

“Because of our flat organisation every employee is on board with our values which makes JYSK unique. This is important when attracting new employees,” says Jan Bek.
