City store sets sales record in Hungary
The new city store in Budapest broke the previous opening sales record.
A new store opening is in itself worth celebrating. But there was even more reason to celebrate the opening in May of the second city store in Hungary.
The new JYSK city store, which opened on 18 May in the Árkád City mall in Budapest, beat the previous sales record in an opening week by 62 percent. The number of customers in the first week also rose with 35 percent to a total of 7,786.
The previous sales record in an opening week belonged to the first JYSK city store in Hungary, located in Allee, another mall in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.
Ready to welcome customers
One of the people who participated in the opening was Katrine Veggerby, who is Project Manager for City Stores in JYSK Nordic and likes to participate in all city store openings.
Facts about JYSK Hungary
- Total number of stores: 75 (2 city stores)
- First store opened in: 2005
- Population in Hungary: 9.8 million
“The atmosphere between the colleagues in the city store was great, and they were really ready to welcome customers to an inspiring store filled with strong opening offers,” explains Katrine.
Experienced colleagues with a plan
The first city store in Hungary opened in August 2016 thanks to a great effort by District Manager Bernadett Kámi, who is now responsible for both city stores. Dante Reguli is Store Manager in the new store, and he also helped open the first one.
“It was very clear to me that both Bernadett and Dante came with lots of experience from opening the other city store, and they knew exactly what it would take to make it a success. Bernadett and Dante had made a strong plan for the day, and everyone knew exactly what to do, so all the pieces fit together,” says Katrine.
Due to the great success with both city stores, JYSK is already looking for great locations for more city stores in Hungary.
