Lakosi SzilviaAt JYSK, we place great importance on our Scandinavian roots. But what does it really mean to be Scandinavian? We have asked Lakosi Szilvia, Store Manager in Sopron, Hungary.

What does the term ‘Scandinavian’ mean to you?

The first thing I think of when I hear about Scandinavia is “Nordic Value”. For me it means cohesion, harmony and simplicity with a hint of the cold, harsh climate. The second thing I think of is the winning song from the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest with Conchita Wurst, which was held in Copenhagen. That has been one of my favourite songs ever since.

How do you think JYSK stands out as a Scandinavian company?

JYSK’s expression, together with the product’s design and style, is unique and reflects its Scandinavian origins. Compared to my previous workplace, which was not Scandinavian, JYSK is more focused on a familial and friendly atmosphere. JYSK listens to its employees’ opinions, and the colleagues are helpful, supportive and trust each other. I am happy that I have had the opportunity to experience the Scandinavian way of doing things and to be a part of this fantastic team here.
