Focus on IT: Employees presents their workplace

Apache Kafka has been adopted in many of JYSK’s Java and other business critical applications with consumer producer patterns and context-based topics for customer, products, and order events.

With Kafka and smartphones in the stores, JYSK colleagues can work a lot faster and smarter. For instance, the store colleagues can move a product to an empty shelf and easily change the price tag with the available smartphone.

“With Kafka, we avoid the long running nightly batch updating of all product definitions and their grouping. Instead, we can update prices, and other data, almost ad hoc when changes occur. We continuously work towards making the workday even smarter for our store colleagues,” Carsten Goldbæk Nielsen says, who is Java Developer in JYSK.
