Soon, the first store employees will receive OEKO-TEX®-certified clothes and name tags made from wood.

Store Manager, Viby
"It is much more stylish and in line with the general transformation of JYSK’s stores." This is the immediate words of Store Manager Kenneth Danielsen as he sees the new wooden name tag for the first time.

The well-known, white plastic name tag will soon get a brand-new look. And it is not just the look that is being upgraded. The new tag is made of wood rather than plastic.

“JYSK is constantly working to become more sustainable, and as a result we want to reduce the use of plastic. Therefore, it is also natural to replace plastic with wood in our name tags, which are worn by our colleagues in more than 3,000 stores,” says Michael Beck, Category Manager, Goods Not For Resale (GNFR).

Free from problematic chemistry

The clothes for all our store employees also become more responsible. In this case the change is not as visible as with the name tags, but an OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label on the neck of the clothing will reveal that even if it cannot be seen at first, an important change has taken place.

OEKO-TEX® is the world’s leading health labeling scheme for textiles and the label is JYSK’s assurance that our employee clothes do not contain any harmful levels of problematic chemistry.

Did you know...

That all employee clothes at JYSK’s distribution centres are also OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100-certified?

“In JYSK, we are very focused on avoiding harmful chemicals in our products. Therefore, of course, our employee clothes must with certainty also be free from harmful levels of problematic chemistry,” says Michael.

Positive reception

In the store in Viby in Denmark, Store Manager Kenneth Danielsen is happy with the upcoming changes.

"Sustainability is something everybody talks about, and we do as well. It is a good feeling to be able to tell the customers that we are doing something that is better for the environment - and for ourselves too," he says and adds:

"And it is nice to know what you are wearing when you spend so many hours in your working clothes."

Running rollout

The change to more responsible clothes and the new name tag will take place on an ongoing basis. Only when the existing clothes and name tags are out of stock will the new ones be sent out gradually.

OEKO-TEX-certified
The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label is found on a wide range of our products and soon also at all our employee clothing.
