In UK and Ireland you will meet possibilities
Jonathan Lindbæk and Reza Rahimi have met possibilities in fast-growing JYSK United Kingdom and JYSK Ireland.
As 21-year-old Jonathan Lindbæk came to the final stage of his apprenticeship in Denmark, he had a talk with his Store Manager about the future. Jonathan expressed his wish for an international adventure.
“I wanted to build my career in JYSK, but for me, Denmark was a bit boring as I had lived there my whole life. At first, my idea was to go to Germany, but then I would have to learn the language first. Instead, Ireland was the ideal country, as I already spoke English,” says Jonathan.
He sent his job application to Ireland for a Sales Assistant position and had his job interviews on Teams and got the job. On 1 July 2022, he moved to Ashbourne, Ireland, and since then, he has become Logistics Responsible in the store and is attending the Talent Academy.
”My goal is to become Store Manager. After Talent Academy, I would like to find a position as Deputy Store Manager, before I can start on the Store Manager Trainee course, where training and roleplaying will help me to become a Store Manager. Here in Ireland, new stores open all the time, and the possibilities to quickly climb the career ladder are huge,” says Jonathan.
Endless possibilities
If you want an international adventure, and you are ready to bring dedication, the possibilities are endless in the United Kingdom and Ireland, where JYSK is growing fast. The language makes it possible for JYSK colleagues all around Europe to start right away.
“When we are growing so fast, it is possible to go from Sales Assistant to Store Manager very quickly. We want to grow our own people, and we will spot the talents, put them on academies and give the opportunities to take the next steps,” says Retail Manager in JYSK United Kingdom and Ireland, Reza Rahimi.
Reza himself took the step from District Manager in Sweden to Retail Manager in the UK and Ireland 11 months ago.
“We have a normal recruitment process, where people apply for our open positions, and then the best candidate is chosen. Often people start in the same role as in their previous JYSK country, but I can guarantee that the opportunities will come much faster than in any other country, if you bring dedication,” says Reza.
A new social network
Privately, Jonathan has also settled in. It took a while for Jonathan to find an apartment, but now he lives in a private room in a shared apartment, where he enjoys the community with roommates.
“You need to remind yourself that you have to be social to make friendships in a new country. It is of course a great start with your colleagues in the store, but hobbies are really a good way to go, and that is how I have met most of my friends, through my interests in jiu jitsu and fitness,” says Jonathan.
Therefore, Jonathan would also encourage others to take the international step in JYSK.
”If you know where you want to go, do your research on the country, the culture and the history. Start the search for a place to live well in advance and make as much ready as possible. The earlier you start, the smoother it will be,” says Jonathan.
