On 20 June 2020, all suppliers to JYSK and Dänisches Bettenlager were introduced to a new common supplier guideline.

Product quality is one of the most important issues for customers when they decide if they want to come back to a store or not.

This is also the case for our customers in JYSK, and constantly improving product quality and reducing the number of claims has been a key part of our strategy for a number of years.

However, as JYSK and Dänisches Bettenlager used to be two independent companies, the requirements towards suppliers have not been the same.

This is now changed as there is now one common supplier guideline with 800 pages and 270 working files with detailed descriptions of our requirements towards suppliers.

“It is important to have one shared supplier guideline for all suppliers, combining the best from the two previous guidelines. We are One JYSK, and therefore it makes no sense to have two different sets of requirements towards suppliers. This also makes it much easier for suppliers to make offers across all markets, which in the long run is an advantage for JYSK,” says Henrik Laursen Møller, who is Product Compliance Specialist and has been the main author of the new supplier guideline.

Room for improvement

However, he underlines that it does not end there.

“The supplier guideline does not just ensure reliable product quality. It is also an important tool in our efforts to become more sustainable. An example of that is our new packaging guideline, which is more environmentally friendly and makes it possible for us to switch to FSC cardboard,” explains Henrik and continues:

“We have set new requirements towards the use of FSC-certified raw materials as well as outphasing PVC, and these are just some examples of areas, where we will raise the bar for suppliers in the future,” says Henrik.

Well received

The new supplier guidelines was announced for JYSK suppliers on 20 June, and so far there has been no negative comments.

“The common supplier guideline is an important step in our efforts to ensure that JYSK is truly a global brand, and that we all move in the same direction. This is also how our suppliers have received it, and generally they are very positive and see this as an opportunity to work even more with JYSK,” says Henrik.

Therefore he also expresses his gratitude towards all of the colleagues, who have been part of developing the new supplier guideline.

“A lot of colleagues from all parts of the organisation have contributed, and I have no doubt that this is an important part of the reason for it being so well received,” says Henrik.
