JYSK reaches 50 stores in Bulgaria

In March 2023, JYSK celebrated an important milestone in Bulgaria, reaching 50 stores in the country. Store number 50 opened in the same city that hosts our first Bulgarian store, Plovdiv.

Almost 18 years have passed since the first JYSK sign was placed on a store front in Bulgaria. It happened in Plovdiv, where JYSK opened the first Bulgarian store, back in 2005, when the company was a franchise.

The same year, Luben Mishev got a job in JYSK Plovdiv as a warehouse worker. Now, he is a Retail Manager for JYSK in Bulgaria and is responsible for all the stores. 

“It is remarkable how JYSK has developed during the years. We went from one store in Plovdiv and just a dozen employees, to 50 stores all around the country and more than 700 employees at present, including one of the most modern logistics facilities in the region, Distribution Centre Bozhurishte," says Luben Mishev, Retail Manager at JYSK Bulgaria and continues:

"The years have gone by fast, and it has been a pleasure to see how the company has changed during the years, how our colleagues developed and how the brand became more and more known everywhere in Bulgaria. Some of the colleagues who got hired in JYSK in 2005 are still in the company, including myself, which is proof that we are enjoying our work and that when you work hard, the rewards will come."

An enthusiastic team

JYSK Plovdiv Twin Park opened on a Thursday morning. Everyone was excited about the event: the store staff was happy to finally greet customers, after weeks of working and preparing the store, and the customers were eager to see the great offers that JYSK has prepared especially for the opening.

Georgi Stefanov, District Manager, was at the store with his team the entire day.

“The opening day went great, and the team really enjoyed it. They were full of energy and adrenaline knowing how special the occasion was for the company. You could tell from the sparkle in the eyes what it meant to them, and the air was full of enthusiasm and happiness. From the very first to the very last customer, the team really showed what a true tradesman in JYSK looks like”.

For Georgi, it was the first opening for which he worked as a District Manager. He uses the occasion to thank everyone involved in this special opening.

It was my first solo opening as a District Manager and I really can’t put into words how privileged and honoured I am to be the District Manager opening the 50th store for JYSK Bulgaria, especially in my hometown of Plovdiv. It was a once in a lifetime experience that surely I won’t forget.

On the same day, 9 March, the company also opened a new store in Razlog, which was the 49th JYSK store in Bulgaria. The occasion was celebrated with an opening event, with balloons, music, and a week of special offers.
