What is MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX?
- MADE IN GREEN OEKO-TEX is an extension of the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 label, which besides securing that the product does not contain harmful chemistry also ensures an environmental friendly and socially responsible production of the products.
- The label is an added guarantee in addition to JYSK’s Supplier Code of Conduct, which also sets strict demands regarding ethical and socially responsible production.
As part of the ongoing effort to protect the environment and customers, JYSK introduces MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX on textile products.
For years, JYSK customers have been safe from harmful levels of chemicals in textile products, as all textiles in JYSK live up to OEKO-TEX’s requirements.
But JYSK aims even higher and therefore we will from December 2019 introduce the new label MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX.
By introducing MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX, JYSK makes higher demands to secure that the production of textiles is carried out with respect for people and the environment.
“We are really happy to introduce MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX. It is not something new in JYSK that we have strict requirements towards our suppliers when it comes to human rights, labour rights and environmental requirements. However, by requiring MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX from our suppliers, it will become easier to communicate this to our customers,” says Ninna Bilstrup Rask, Compliance Specialist in JYSK.
In addition, the label ensures transparency throughout our supply chain.
“By entering the unique product ID from the label into the OEKO-TEX website the customer can find the exact factory where the specific product has been made,” explains Ninna.
An important step
MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX is a label that can be put on products that are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and STeP by OEKO-TEX certified. These certifications ensure that the product does not contain harmful substances, and that the product is produced in environmentally friendly and socially responsible facilities.
“JYSK continuously takes new steps to reduce our negative impact on the environment, and implementing the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX label is an important part of this process. Therefore, I am really happy that we can now offer this guidance to our customers, and that many of our textiles will carry the label,” says Kathrine Møller Vinther, Category Manager in JYSK for bedlinen, sheets and towels among other things.
The MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX label on the products will replace the existing OEKO-TEX Standard 100 label. The first products to carry the label will be bedlinen, sheets and towels and products with the new label will be in stores from December 2019.
