Every now and then, we round up recent events and activities from some of the JYSK countries. Check out the latest here.
Celebrating 20 years in Poland
In August, JYSK Poland celebrated its 20th anniversary.
The anniversary was officially celebrated at a big gala for all employees.
President & CEO, Jan Bøgh, Executive Vice President Retail, Mikael Nielsen, and Executive Vice President Finance and IT, Henrik Naundrup, joined the celebration and thanked the Polish colleagues for their great efforts.
New solar panels up and running in DC Bozhurishte
A new photovoltaic system is up and running at JYSK’s distribution centre in Bozhurishte in Bulgaria.
According to estimates, the new solar panels will cover 15% of the distribution centre's consumption. Thus, the distribution centre will reduce carbon emissions with 580 tons each year.
The plan is to install more solar panels in the coming years and thereby reducing emissions further.
In JYSK, our aim is to cut in half the greenhouse gas emissions emitted from powering and heating all of our stores, distribution centres, offices, and company owned vehicles by 2030.
Supporting Football for All
JYSK’s distribution centre in Nässjö in Sweden is a proud sponsor of the local football team Football for All. The team consists of children with disabilities.
Among other things, JYSK’s sponsorship contributes to subsidized membership fees and bus trips for the team to be able to participate in cups.
The sponsorship was prolonged earlier this year.
Romanian colleagues party all together
In September, all colleagues from JYSK Romania were able to gather and celebrate the JYSK Annual Party for the first time since 2019. Due to corona restrictions, it was not possible either in 2020 or 2021.
Last time all colleagues were gathered for celebration, JYSK Romania had 80 stores. Today, that number is 125 which means that for a lot of colleagues this was their first time to party together.
The party was held at Hard Rock Café Bucharest and the theme was glam rock.
JYSK’s ”Bring Dedication” scholarship
Monday 10 October, wheelchair rugby player Kaare Momme Nielsen from the Danish national team became the first to receive JYSK’s ”Bring Dedication” scholarship.
The scholarship is a part of JYSK’s main sponsorship of Parasport Denmark. The scholarship will be handed out every year to one or more promising para-athletes, who shows great dedication.
The scholarship was handed by Kristine Brunsborg, the widow of JYSK's founder, Lars Larsen.
Raising awareness of Sustainable Development
In June, the Polish city Katowice hosted the 11th World Urban Forum (WUF11) by United Nations. WUF is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization and promotes the Sustainable Development Goals.
KATO Urban Corner is part of WUF11 and aims to promote knowledge and good practices related to sustainable development.
JYSK is partner of KATO Urban Corner and has equipped the site and actively supports the workshops e.g., by sponsoring discarded furniture to a workshop focusing on reducing waste. The furniture was rejected by the quality department at JYSK’s distribution centre in Radomsko and will now, as a part of the less waste workshop, be renovated and get a second life.
Unified Commerce reaches important milestone
Tuesday 11 October, the Unified Commerce (UC) transformation in JYSK reached an important milestone, as the first JYSK store was ready to use the new UC POS (Point of Sale).
The new UC POS will give our customers a much more flexible customer journey. UC makes it possible to inspire and inform, exchange/cancel, complete orders and return/exchange anywhere and across all touchpoints and devices.
The full functionality of the UC POS will eventually also be available on store mobiles. This will for example make it possible to start an order in the mattress area and end it at the cashier or fulfil the complete order on the phone.
The roll out will start in Denmark, but all countries will in time have the new possibilities.
Minister and ambassadors visit DC Bozhuriste
In September, the Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Industry, Mr. Nikola Stoyanov, as well as Ambassadors/Diplomatic mission of Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Romania, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina visited JYSK’s distribution centre in Bozhuriste in Bulgaria.
The visit went well, and the guests had many questions.
The visit was part of an official meeting hosted by the National Company Industrial Zones EAD (NCIZ) in the Sofia-Bozhurishte Industrial Park, which DC Bozhuriste is part of.
