On Friday, 19 August 2016, JYSK turned the first sod in Uldum and started its preliminary work on the expansion of the company’s Danish distribution centre in earnest.

There is a real need for extra space at JYSK’s distribution centre in Uldum, Denmark, which is why plans have been under way to add a fourth high-rise warehouse for some time now.

On Friday, 19 August, Executive Vice President Logistics, Allan K. Kjærgaard, turned the first sod behind the steering wheel of one the machines that will be used to dig out the new building.

“We are really pleased to be getting started on the initial phase of the building. There is a real need for those extra square metres in Uldum, and we have been working on this project for a long time now - which is why this is such a big day for us,” says Allan Kjærgaard.

The expansion is necessary because JYSK’s continued growth has not left room in the three existing high-rise warehouses, which were built in 2008.

The completed expansion is expected to be ready in October 2017, and once it has been fully phased in around 50 new employees will be needed, bringing the total number of employees at JYSK in Uldum to more than 350.
