Best Store Team has a day off, while the management team takes over the store
JYSK Arad 1 won the title of Best Store Team and the employees were rewarded with a day off, which they spent having fun outdoors. They were replaced in the store by the management team from the Romanian head office.
THE STORE STAFF HAD FUN OUTDOORS
As they obtained the best results in KPIs like staff turnover, stock management and sales, the team from Arad 1 was named Best Store Team. They received a diploma, a trophy and a day off which they could spend together. They chose to go for a barbecue in the woods, outside town, where they played football, they walked and had fun.
Anda Șopron, Store Manager, was happy that they had the chance to know each other better: „We found out things that we did not know until now about our colleagues. Some are great at cooking, others are very good at sports and we have colleagues who have a passion for photography. I loved the fact that the general atmosphere was pleasant, we played games, chess, volleyball, football. And the most important thing is that we made everything together, as a team.”
Raluca Dodan, Shift Responsible, says the day was better than they expected: “We didn’t have the chance to interact this way outside work until now. I was delighted that everyone was cheerful and we relaxed and had fun all day”.
READY FOR NEXT YEAR
The place they chose for spending the day played a big part in helping them relax. It was a nice meadow surrounded by large fir trees and wooden cottages, where there was no cell phone reception, which helped them disconnect from their normal day-to-day life.
Sebastian Iva, Logistic Responsible, is happy that his team won and hopes that next year they will defend their title: “In a football team is very important for the players to get along on the field and to have a good coach that motivates them. This is also true in the workplace. The players should form a homogeneous team, everyone should know what their job is, respect their tasks, analyze what happened when the game result is not good, listen to coaches’ advice. This is how the team will win the trophy they fight for. And we want to win this trophy next year as well”.
STORE DAY FOR THE MANAGEMENT TEAM
The day started at JYSK Arad 1 with the morning meeting. During the meeting, the colleagues who took over the store were given specific tasks by Andreea Zahanagiu, Retail Manager Trainee.
Raul Ardelean, Retail Manager, and Vlad Bordeanu, Store Concept Manager, had to sort the furniture and make sure the shelves are well filled. Raul, who lived in Arad, felt like home. “We received the goods, sorted the items according to our procedures and supplied the store with the newly arrived articles. I liked the fact that we worked in a team and we helped each other”.
Alex Bratu, Country Manager, had to fold the cardboard boxes and empty the cardboard press machine. Cristi Cuzmin, Financial Manager, and Hristu Geoge, Development Manager, had to sort the products and prepare the trolleys with the goods.
“I think that not everyone can work in a store. It is a demanding job, both physically and mentally. I take my hat off in front of all the colleagues who work in a store. I was pleased when the last pallet was placed in the storage room”, says Hristu.
Dana Cujbă, Customer Service Manager, is used to speak to the customers. This time she could talk to them face to face, not by phone or email. Since the beginning of the day, she planned to sale as much as possible and have the receipt with the highest sales value. “It was just one day and I felt I worked hard. I do not know if the next day I would have been as fresh as the previous one. The greatest satisfaction for me was when I managed to convince a customer to purchase the products I had given him advice on. One of the customers actually told me that he had never been helped and treated that well in a store before”.
NUMBER 1
Iraida Paiuc, Sales and Marketing Manager, loves to work in the store and is not afraid of customers or hard work. “The store looked perfect, so I am not surprised that JYSK Arad 1 won the Best Store Team prize in 2018. I was focused on selling. I like to interract with customers, to find out why they decide to come to our stores and what are the main criteria they look at when buying a product”.
Simona Carp, HR Manager, enjoyed working at the cash desk. From here, she could check the sales in order to see on what place the JYSK Arad 1 store is placed for the day. „Every time I am impressed by how many tasks our colleagues in the store are having and by how many things they have to know. There is no time to be bored in the store. I worked mainly at the cash desk, but I felt we worked like a team and I liked this very much. I also like to compete, so every two minutes I was checking the sales in our country to see on which place our store was. When we left the store we were number 1!”, says Simona.
