JYSK hosted the Kubernetes Community Days in Denmark where IT enthusiasts came together to learn, network and share knowledge on cloud native.

On 14 November, JYSK hosted the first Kubernetes Community Days (KCDs) 2023 in Denmark. 400 IT enthusiasts came together to learn, network and share knowledge on cloud native.

After nine months of planning, JYSK and the organisers from KCDs could finally welcome 400 guests to the first Kubernetes Community Days Denmark on Tuesday 14 November. KCDs are global, community-organised events, where members gather to learn, network and share knowledge.

JYSK’s auditorium was the main podium for inspiring talks, while the lounge provided an energetic space for networking and meeting rooms buzzed with interactive workshops.

Rapid expansion in JYSK’s IT department

What is Kubernetes?

JYSK utilises Kubernetes, a robust platform for orchestrating and managing software applications. This ensures efficient distribution across numerous servers, creating a highly scalable system. This orchestration allows for seamless integration and operation of software, which is crucial for the organisation as it has complex and ever-evolving software requirements.

JYSK IT department is on a dynamic growth journey. While JYSK is widely known for its diverse range of products within sleeping and living, there is also a wealth of technological prowess steering the organisation forward. The department is responsible for developing, implementing and managing IT systems in stores, web shops and internal applications to ensure smooth software functionality.

“With our recent growth within IT, we are thrilled to be part of a community and provide a platform for IT enthusiasts from all levels and backgrounds to come together, share experiences and learn from others in the industry,” says Peter Rasmussen, JAVA Team Manager.

A vibrant community

KCD is not your typical IT conference. It is a conference that focuses on local community, where organisations from Denmark and afar can share their setup, their way of running their systems so the community can learn and benefit. With more than 100 submission talks, 16 were carefully selected, covering topics such as observability and security, green computing, and platform engineering.

“Personally, I was overwhelmed at the fact that many people wanted to take part, connect, and talk during the event. Numerous participants actively connected and discussed various topics. The continuous flow of questions and shared knowledge underlined the power of community. This experience highlights the value of knowledge sharing,” says Ryan Gough, Senior IT Operations Specialist and one of the organisers from the JYSK team.

A commitment to knowledge-sharing

Ryan Gough has launched JYSK.tech, JYSKs official blog dedicated to explaining the technological advancements driving the organisation’s growth within IT solutions. The blog emphasises transparency, sharing the intricate matrix of technology JYSK employs. From the software solutions that streamline the supply chain to the online shopping experience. More writers have joined the editorial team, and more is set to come.
