Sorin from Romania went on a trip to Copenhagen
The Award for Best Stock Management in Romania was won by Sorin Ștefan Szabo, Store Manager in JYSK Arad Aurel Vlaicu. This spring, Sorin went on the trip he won, together with his girlfriend, Dana. His destination: Copenhagen.
Five years ago, Sorin got a job at JYSK Arad Aurel Vlaicu as a Sales Leader. Two years later, he became Store Manager of the same store. Then, last year he proved everyone that he understood and applied the Stock Management procedures in the best way possible. As he had the best results for Stock Management in Romania, he won an attractive prize: a trip to a European Capital.
ANOTHER WORLD
Sorin wanted to see how a JYSK Store looks like in Denmark, so he chose Copenhagen as the destination of his trip. He went there with his girlfriend, Dana, and together they discovered a city full of bikes and a country with great services.
“We visited a JYSK store which is located downtown, near the Copenhagen train station. I liked the city very much. It’s a completely different world there. I was pleased to see how good all the services are and how nice all the people are. From the hotel receptionist to the guide that spoke at the megaphone on the boat when we visited the canals, they were all very nice people”, said Sorin.
Sorin wanted to see all the major tourist attractions the city has to offer. He went to museums, he learned that Denmark has the oldest monarchy and the oldest flag and he went on a boat trip to see all the famous canals. The boat trip was his favourite activity, because he could see attractions like the Little Mermaid and the Nyhavn street, with its colorful buildings.
DANISH MORNINGS
But the most surprising thing for Sorin was to see so many bicycles on the streets and to see that many Danes are starting their day with a jogging session.
“Because Denmark is one hour behind, I used to wake up very early, before breakfast was served at the hotel. In Romania I usually wake up at 6 a.m. While I was outside enjoying my coffee, even though it was cold and it was raining, more than 30 people passed by, running. After breakfast, we would go for a walk and I found it amazing to see thousands of bicycles on the streets. I have only seen this in Amsterdam”, Sorin Szabo remembers.
STOCK MANAGEMENT BEST PRACTICE
After he came back from his trip, Sorin shared a few best practice ideas with his colleagues to help them get good results at work. His first advice is to always respect the procedure, step by step. Then they have to prepare the inventory together with their team, especially with the Area Responsibles. It is very important for him that all the people from the team are involved in the inventory, because this way the chances to spot any possible mistakes will increase.
Sorin’s 4 days tour in Copenhagen
- Day 1: He visited the City Hall Square and a few stores, because it rained all day and they had no umbrellas.
- Day 2: He went to see the changing of the guard at Amalienborg Palace and ate at a seafood restaurant.
- Day 3: Sorin went on a boat trip on the canals and after this, he visited the Design Museum. They also saw and photographed famous statues from Copenhagen: Hans Christian Andersen statue, the Dragon Fountain, Staue of Absalon.
- Day 4: Sorin and Dana went shopping for souvenirs and bought many dining plates for their collection. At home, they have only one wall left which is not yet covered by dining plates.
