Scandinavian input for Canada
For six weeks, John H. Jacobsen from JYSK Canada was part of JYSK Nordic, before returning home with lots of new input and inspiration.
From 23 January until 2 March, the staff in JYSK Nordic´s head office in Brabrand, Denmark, was one man up, as 29-year-old John H. Jacobsen took part in the daily business to learn more about JYSK Nordic.
John is responsible for sales and expansion of the JYSK Franchise operation in Canada with 62 stores spread across the second-largest country in the world. During his visit to Denmark, he has collected a lot of input to use back in Canada.
"I really want to thank all the departments for their hospitality. It has been great to meet everyone, and I have been very well received."
“The last time I was in Denmark on a longer stay was in 2014, and a lot has changed since then. I am very impressed with the increased focus on quality and the big plans for unified commerce as well as the store concept 3.0, which is really great. There is certainly a lot of inspiration in that,” says John.
Especially because Scandinavian design has become very popular in Canada.
“Our focus has been on delivering a great Scandinavian offer for everyone within sleeping and living, and as a result our stores and our assortment is getting a lot more Scandinavian,” explains John.
Impressed by internationalisation
As part of his stay in Denmark, John has both visited and worked in a number of stores and taken part in a number of meetings and events at the office in Brabrand.
On his very first day of the visit, he participated in a Country Manager meeting, and towards the end of the visit, he participated in a strategy session concerning the JYSK strategy for the coming financial year.
Both these meetings and other meetings, which he has participated in, have given John a really good view of how international JYSK has become.
“I think it is impressive how international the JYSK organisation has become, and how good you are at planning and communicating to make sure that everyone understands each other across countries,” says John.
Furthermore, he expresses his appreciation for all the great people he met during his stay.
“I really want to thank all the departments for their hospitality. It has been great to meet everyone, and I have been very well received everywhere,” says John.
