One week with... Jussi Mäkilä from Finland
Store Manager Trainee Jussi Mäkilä from Finland has chosen to share a typical working week in his life through pictures and short descriptions. He works in one of the largest JYSK stores in Finland.
Monday
Today I was at a Store Manager Trainee follow-up meeting together with my mentor, District Manager and Store Manager. We talked about forthcoming activities, setting goals and of course the summer sales, and how we can get the best out of the season.
Tuesday
It’s good that JYSK is constantly moving forward and developing its concepts and products all the time. This makes it easier for us to sell them and to achieve higher sales in the stores month after month. Today we finished updating the homeware and deco area in the store.
Wednesday
Some time ago, my fiancée and I bought our own apartment, and it is still being renovated. Sometimes it feels like an endless project, but it is our first real home, and I want it to be perfect for us in the future.
Thursday
A good team and a feeling of community helps us make our daily routines easy and efficient – also on delivery days, when the products are heavy like today. I like the physical aspect of the job. You don’t need to go to the gym after a whole day in the storeroom.
Friday
At the weekend I work as a DJ in a local bar. Before the show starts, it’s a good idea to go through the music lists and make some small changes to ensure that people have fun and party all night long.
Saturday
Today I enjoyed some quality time with my old school friends in the summer chalet. It is wonderful to relax in nature and enjoy good company – and naturally, to use the sauna!
Sunday
My fiancée and I often have sofa Sundays, when we just stay home and watch movies. We’re in the middle of ice hockey season, so tonight it was ice hockey we watched, and Finland are going to win again!
