JYSK employees from Romania and Poland put on their outdoor clothes this Autumn and spend one day in nature, planting trees and enjoying a nice activity together. The two tree planting events were sponsored by JYSK and took place in Siedlce area, Poland, and Alba County, Romania.

20.000 trees planted in Romania

Planting trees has become a tradition in Romania. For the past 7 years, JYSK sponsored Planting Good Deeds in Romania NGO and, together, they have already planted 130.000 trees.

At the end of October, another 20.000 spruce and larch trees were planted in Alba County, with the support of JYSK. The start was marked by a tree planting event attended by JYSK employees from the area and children from the middle school from the city of Abrud.

For Elena Gordan, Store Manager JYSK Petroșani, this was the third consecutive year when she attended the event as a volunteer.

"I like to do things for nature. This year was very nice because we planted together with the children. They were delighted and very open, they even had their own little tools to plant with. There aren't many activities of this kind in our area, that's why I'm very happy that JYSK organizes an event like this and I can participate. I'm already signing up for next year!", says Elena Gordan.

A new Forever Forest

A new deciduous forest was planted in the eastern part of Poland, near Siedlce. There were 1,200 seedlings of various deciduous trees that were planted by JYSK Poland employees, from hazel to maple, mountain ash and hornbeam.

JYSK employees active in the JYSK Runners Club ran together 1,500 kilometers during the Wings for Life 2023 charity run in Poznań. The joint effort and distance translated into square meters for planting a new forest.

JYSK supported the initiative of the Las na Always Foundation, which creates young, biodiverse deciduous forests in various parts of Poland. No wood is harvested from Forever Forests, and they can grow unrestrained and wild. They are intended to serve nature, of which humans are an integral part, and not the economy. Employees of the Foundation and JYSK jointly planted young trees with the environment and future generations in mind.

“JYSK engages in such campaigns because we want to be credible. It is important to us that we are true to ourselves on many levels: we care for the environment by changing packaging, reducing the amount of lighting in stores, and segregating waste. We plant forests because where we live and what we do is important to us”, says Michał Brzeski, District Manager of JYSK Poland.
