"It's exciting, fun, challenging and quite difficult," said Johan Sjödin, Country Manager of JYSK Sweden, just two hours after the management team was left alone to run the store.

Every year, the management team of JYSK Sweden fills in as temporary staff while rewarding their store colleagues with a well-deserved break. This year they ended up in Falköping, where the colleagues were rewarded with a trip to the spa for their good sales performance during last summer.

"It means a lot to us who work at the store in Falköping to get away together for two days. When you work at a store, open seven days a week, there is no possibility to do something like this with the whole team. This clearly strengthens the team spirit," says Carolina Alfsson, Store Manager in Falköping.

Rewarding great effort

The history of JYSK in Falköping goes back a long way as the store has been in the town almost as long as JYSK has been in Sweden.

Carolina Alfsson has been managing the store for the past 13 years and has done a great job together with the rest of her Falköping colleagues to create a successful and welcoming JYSK store.

"At JYSK we believe in the importance of rewarding employees for all their good work. In Falköping, many employees have worked for JYSK many years and they are doing an incredibly good job every day. So they are well worth this treat," says Johan Sjödin, Country Manager of JYSK Sweden.

Experiencing the core business

Several members of the Swedish management team began their own journey at JYSK in one of the Swedish JYSK stores. Thanks to the two days in Falköping they were given the opportunity to once again feel the pulse and heat of the company’s core operation.

“It’s all about seeing what is happening on the floor and to experience what our colleagues experience every day. At the same time we got a rare opportunity to meet employees and customers in their everyday life. In addition, it is a really fun workday,” says Johan.

And Carolina agrees:

“It’s really good that those who make decisions for the company know how everyday life in a JYSK store works. In Falköping we are a well-oiled team and the store operation in running smoothly. So we are quite excited to see how the management team manages to hold the fort while we are away.”
