After many months of thorough preparations, JYSK welcomed customers inside the first two stores in Türkiye on Thursday 4 May 2023.
The very first customer at JYSK Torium in the Turkish city of Istanbul bought towels.
In the minutes, days, weeks and months leading up to the first sale, Store Manager Gökhan Bayezit and many other JYSK colleagues had been preparing for the big day.
“The entire process was intense and fun. We finally reached this unique day, and we will for sure achieve great success here. Thank you to all JYSK colleagues. There is a lot of cooperation between the teams, we feel updated with all the information, and we always have a smile on our face,” the Store Manager said shortly after the opening of his store.
Two store openings in one day
In addition to the Torium store, which is located inside a large shopping centre, JYSK also opened a second store in Türkiye. The other one, called JYSK Oasis, is placed in a retail park in another area of Istanbul.
Both stores opened at 10:00 in the morning and welcomed customers with coffee and Turkish cookies. As Türkiye is now part of the JYSK Romania and Bulgaria organisation, many colleagues from both countries participated in the openings.
Right before the opening of JYSK Torium, Jan Bøgh, President & CEO, held a short speech for the employees.
“We have been working on Türkiye with a lot of potential for almost two years. And I can tell you that I find the stores really, really nice. It’s fantastic to see. I also hope you’ve found our JYSK values and are ready to live by them. At JYSK, our values are not just words on a poster on the wall – they are something we carry with us all the time. Both towards our colleagues and our customers,” he said.
