On 6 February, two JYSK stores in Valencia, Spain, which were severely affected by the floodings three months ago, reopened to customers.

The two JYSK stores in Aldaia and Alfafar were completelyJYSK employees standing in front of a JYSK store opening covered in mud and water, but thanks to the hard work and passion of our colleagues, they have now reopened quickly and safely.

As part of the reopening celebrations, JYSK has also supported local businesses and associations impacted by the floodings by donating products to help them get back on their feet as quickly as possible.

"We are deeply proud of our teams, whose effort and dedication have made the reopening of our stores possible after the floodings. Their commitment has been key in welcoming our customers back and continuing to offer the best service. Additionally, we are very happy to support local businesses and associations in our community that have also suffered the consequences of this terrible event, reinforcing our commitment to solidarity and mutual support," says Carlos Haba, Country Director of JYSK Spain and Portugal.

In addition to the JYSK colleagues, two players from the Valencia Basket Club, of which JYSK is a proud sponsor, visited the reopened stores to choose and share their favourite JYSK products with their followers and support the reopenings.

Overcoming challenges at DCC

The severe floodings also affected the pace of work at the Distribution Centre Cheste (DCC), which serves the stores in Spain and Portugal, as it is also located in Valencia.

In the immediate post-flood stage, employees from different stores helped out at the DCC, and then colleagues from other JYSK distribution centres went to Spain to help during a period of high workload.

“I would like to thank our colleagues for the incredible spirit of cooperation they have shown in supporting us through what has been a challenging time. Their willingness to help us was essential to keep the operation moving forward. Thank you for being an example of teamwork,” says Andres Subirats, Logistics Director at DCC.
