Sleep survey revealed at press event in Zagreb
JYSK West Balkan recently presented the results of a new sleep survey along with advice on how to choose the right mattress.
The entrance to the apartment building looks like most others in central Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. To the left of the door, however, something is different: instead of the name of a resident, the blue-and-white logo of JYSK is on display.
Pressing the button next to the logo results in a buzzing sound as the door is unlocked. One flight up, you are welcomed inside an apartment completely furnished and decorated with Scandinavian products from JYSK.
A different kind of press event
That was how journalists from both Croatia and neighbouring Serbia recently arrived at JYSK’s press conference in Zagreb on a sunny day with clear blue skies.
“This place is used for meetings and conferences all the time, but for our event we wanted to do something different,” explains Zvjezdana Novak (right on photo), Sales and Marketing Manager for JYSK West Balkan. “So we took some furniture and accessories from our assortment and decorated the three different rooms, including the bedroom since this event is all about sleep.”
Apart from showcasing JYSK products in an unusual setting, the purpose of the event was to present findings from a survey about sleep made with Croatian and Serbian respondents.
The survey was made by Hendal, and the event was arranged by JYSK West Balkan with help from local PR agency 404. Hosting the event was the famous Croatian TV presenter Antonija Blaće.

How to choose the right mattress
As for the sleep survey, the results show that a majority of people in both Croatia and Serbia perceive their sleep quality as mediocre or even bad, which of course leaves room for improvement.
In order to give journalists an idea on how people can improve their sleep, Category Manager at JYSK Ruben Faarup Christensen gave an instructive presentation on the importance of choosing the right mattress.
“You spend around a third of your life in bed, so the right mattress is crucial. My family and colleagues often ask me, ‘Which one is the best mattress?’ My answer is always that it depends entirely on the individual person’s needs. Your weight, sleeping position and habits all play a role, so it is important to consider those and get assistance from our trained staff in the JYSK stores before choosing,” explains Ruben Faarup Christensen.
