“One for all, all for one” is the headline of the FSC® Week 2022, where the theme is biodiversity. JYSK contributes to creating awareness.
This week, the FSC Week is held for the 11th year in a row and JYSK participates. The theme of the year is biodiversity.
"True to tradition, JYSK participates in the FSC Week because we want to create awareness about how important it is to choose wood from responsible forestry – for the sake of both the climate and biodiversity," says Rune Jungberg Pedersen, Communications & CSR Director.
Biodiversity is about the variety of animal and plant species and the importance this diversity has for life on Earth. Unfortunately, biodiversity is under massive pressure.
"Right now, species are disappearing 100-1,000 times faster than usual. Once a species has disappeared, it does not return. A species is unique, and when it is gone, we will never get it back. Therefore, one can rightly speak of a biodiversity crisis, which unfortunately is at least as serious as the climate crisis,” says Søren Dürr Grue, Director of FSC Denmark.
Home for Big and small
As with the climate, the world's forests also play a vital role in protecting the biodiversity. Therefore, it is extremely important to take care of the forests.
At JYSK, we have focused on responsibly sourced wood since the 1990’s and have been a member of FSC Denmark since 2006 (FSC® N001715).
In FSC-certified forests, no more trees are felled than the forest can naturally replace. This means that the forest area will be the same generation after generation.
At the same time, FSC ensures that animals, plant life and watercourses are protected, and that parts of the forest remain untouched, so that the forest also in the future can continue to be a safe home for both big and small animals and plants.
What is the FSC Week?
FSC is short for Forest Stewardship Council® and is a non-profit organisation and labelling system for wood and paper, which originate from sustainable forestry or other responsible sources.
The FSC Week is FSC Denmark’s largest annual campaign bringing companies and NGO’s across industries together to create awareness about the importance of responsible forestry.
During week 14, JYSK will bring focus to the FSC Week in campaign papers, on social media, blogs and newsletters.
