JYSK now offers bed sheets with lyocell. Lyocell is a good alternative to cotton and offers several advantages for textile production in JYSK products.
On 25 June, three new series of bed sheets came for sale in all JYSK stores worldwide.
So, what is so special about the new series of sheets? Well, 35 % of the material composition in these sheets will now be from lyocell, which is a fabric made from wood pulp from eucalyptus trees.
But how will it feel to have a bed sheet containing tree fibres?
“Customers will not notice any difference in the quality of the bed sheets with more lyocell. In fact, the sheets will feel just as smooth and soft on the skin. It has good breathability, and offers long-lasting durability, making the sheets ideal for everyday use,” says Berit Stokholm Christiansen, Senior Category Manager, Duvets, Pillows, Bed linen & Sheets.
Customers can now find their favourite sheet with more lyocell in the three series:
-
VANJA flat sheets
-
VIVIAN fitted sheets
-
EDITH envelope sheets
New alternatives are here to stay
But why actually introduce lyocell in bed sheets? Lyocell is a good alternative to cotton and offers several advantages for textile production. The most common plants used in the production of lyocell are crops like bamboo and eucalyptus trees that use less water and chemicals than cotton.
“One of the things we focus on in JYSK is the raw materials used for our products, and we are always looking for new materials that can be incorporated into our products. Lyocell is an interesting alternative to cotton as the amount of water used in the production process is lower than for cotton production,” says Berit.
Today, lyocell can be found in products such as mattresses and tea towels. In 2025, the plan is to introduce a selection of bed linen made with more lyocell.
