JYSK rewarded for sustainable effort

All JYSK's wooden garden furniture must be manufactured from FSC certified wood. This policy recently resulted in an award from FSC Denmark.
At FSC® Denmark’s general assembly in May JYSK received a nice wooden diploma. The reason for this is, that we have a public policy saying that all wooden garden furniture must be made of wood, which originate from FSC certified forestry.
Facts about FSC
All FSC certified wood is traceable, which means that all links between the forest and the consumer are checked and have an FSC number – JYSK’s is FSC® N001715.
Forestry workers in FSC forests are ensured proper working conditions.
In an FSC forest, there are areas where the trees are never cut down as this helps create better conditions for both animals and plants.
FSC works for more sustainability in the world's most exposed forest areas.

It is the first time this diploma is handed out, and Loa Dalgaard Worm, Secretariat Director at FSC Denmark, says the following about the prize:
"FSC would like to pay tribute to JYSK and the other member companies that have a clear attitude to FSC certified wood. By publicly stating 100% policies on one or more product groups, companies make a difference and move entire markets. They send a clear signal both internally and externally about the direction, they want to go."
A long-term focus
For several years, JYSK has been working to increase the share of sustainable wood in our assortment. From the beginning, a special focus area has been our garden furniture, and today all wood used for this product category comes from FSC certified forestry.
Among other things, the FSC label means that the wood comes from sustainable forestry, where no more trees are cut down than the forest can naturally replace – and at the same time nature, animals and humans are taken into consideration.
The work continues
JYSK is also focused on increasing the share of products made of FSC certified wood within our other product categories. Management has decided that it should be an internal strategic focus.
