One week with... Teres Sikku from Sweden

Teres Sikku from Sweden has chosen to share a typical working week in her life through pictures and short descriptions. She has just started as District Manager in Norra Norrland in Northeastern Sweden, where she is responsible for nine stores. She lives herself in the town of Skellefteå which has 80,000 residents.

Monday 

As the new District Manager in Norra Norrland, I am taking a tour around the district together with our Retail Manager North, Mats Bjuhr. We visit all the stores in the district and discuss input. In Luleå we meet Store Manager Muhammed Reza, who has just completed a sale and is helping the customer with our Rent Trailer.

Tuesday

The tour continues today to JYSK Sweden’s northernmost store, which is located in the town of Kiruna. Together with the store’s Store Manager, Ida, I go through the new Visual Merchandise concept. Afterwards we go out and look at the building where a new JYSK store will be opening in January 2017. 

Wednesday

Retail Sweden are meeting today to talk about our Business Plan. I am making a presentation about how we can achieve success when holding events, for example mattress evenings, Black Friday, BIG, Green Weekend etc.

Thursday

Today, I am holding a meeting with all the Store Managers in my district. Team spirit is high, and all the managers are extremely motivated and prepared to go all the way. It is fantastic to head up a team with so much drive and commitment.

Friday

On Friday I start my day at the gym. Afterwards I go out to the store in Skellefteå, where I go through descriptions, goals and expectations with the new Store Manager, Natthalie, who will be taking over my position. 

Saturday

My dad has been taking care of the kids all week, so we eat lunch together and play a little guitar before he goes back home to Kiruna, and then in the afternoon we go to the cinema. 

Sunday

We go over to the science centre “Teknikens Hus” in Luleå, where the children are allowed to play by themselves and be creative. I go for another workout at the gym in the evening while my husband gets a little alone time with the kids.
